With growing concern regarding the environment, we felt it necessary to address our position on this very important issue.
For over 20 years, einszett has taken the same stance in environmental protection that many European countries have long made a part of their company culture.
At the forefront of environmental awareness, einszett understands that it's not important to simply react by stating one's position on the environment for purposes of pleasing current trends but to demonstrate with tangible action. We are proud to say that the concerns for the environment have long been part of the einszett business model and will continue to be since it is literally our role to keep the world clean.
See how we're doing our part...
Minimum Impact From The Beginning
einszett has been an environmental leader in the car care industry in Europe with its aggressive stance on not only creating environmentally conscious products but also limiting its impact on the environment during the manufacturing phase.
With so much focus placed on a product's impact when used, it's easy to overlook the most important stage of a product's lifecycle - the manufacturing phase.
The ISO 14000 family addresses "environmental management". This means what the organization does to:
Reduce | Re-Use | Recycle
einszett incorporates each of these stages in the following manner
Reduce
By concentrating cleaners, less product is required to achieve desired results. In using less products, less packaging is disposed thereby reducing the amount of plastic and tin utilized. Also, by this type of action, residual effects take place. For example, if the effectiveness of product contained in three bottles can be concentrated into one bottle, the consumer consumes less fuel to drive to the store to purchase more product.
Re-Use
Post Consumer Plastic
einszett produces all of its plastic bottles with post-consumer plastic instead of using new, virgin plastic. Plastic can take 300-400 years* to decompose. Besides the obvious reduction in environmental impact, giving plastic a second life allows less landfill space to be used and, more importantly, reduces consumption of petroleum, the main component in plastic. Another benefit is the reduction in energy to create new plastic. By reducing this energy, we are again reducing the fuel required to produce the plastic. By reducing petroleum, we reduce our dependance on oil and reduce the impact on the environment.

Recycle
einszett encourages all of its customers to recycle used containers when empty. All einszett packaging including plastic bottles and polish containers made of tin are accepted by all recycling facilities. As an active member of DSD GmbH's Grun Punkt (Green Point) system, einszett of Germany has established itself as a place where einszett customers can return their used packaging or have their large volume containers re-filled. Eventually, this same program will be implemented in North America.
Der Grun Punkt (Green Point)
You may have noticed on every einszett packaging is a symbol consisting of two arrows intertwined in a circle. The Green Point symbol is more than an identification mark ensuring the packaging is recyclable.
In 1990, Duales System Deutchland (DSD) GmbH trademarked the symbol representing the program that German companies and companies in 23 European countries participate in. As part of the Green Point program, companies ensure their customers that their packaging is recyclable and can be returned to the company to be recycled, at no cost to the customer.

- minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and to
- achieve continual improvement of its environmental performance.
By becoming ISO 14001 certified, einszett has minimized impact on the surrounding land, water, and air during the manufacturing phase.
When building the newest manufacturing plant in 1973, it was important to einszett founder Werner Sauer Sr. for the factory to co-exist with the surrounding environment. Meeting strict requirements established by ISO (International Organization for Standardization - the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards), our manufacturing plant meets strict requirments for minimum impact on the environment established by ISO 140001.

Packaging
Tin versus Plastic
As mentioned earlier, einszett utilizes post consumer plastic in all of its plastic packaging. Another way of minimizing impact is einszett's utilization of tin in its packaging. Since tin has a faster decomposition rate compared to plastic (approximately 100 years vs. 300-400 years)*, einszett utilizes tin packaging for some of its products such as its polishes and waxes. While more expensive, the use of tin makes less of an impact on the environment. It also keeps products fresher, longer making products less likely to go bad. Tin is also easily recyclable so it can be used over and over again without losing its strength.

Formulations
Reduction of Petroleum Distillates
Petroleum distillates are the workhorses in many polishes and waxes. There are many varieties that serve different purposes. Some clean the surfaces they're applied to and some carry main ingredients on to the surface and then evaporate after the job is done. Unfortunately, there are two negative aspects of petroleum distillates. First, they are a petroleum product meaning they are dervied from crude oil. Second, because it is a petroleum product, it's also a pollutant.
In order to reduce the amount of petorleum distillates, many companies simply replace them with water. While better for the environment, water does not have the same efficient cleaning ability as petroleum distillates. This results in more product being used in order to achieve the same results.
einszett has researched for alternatives to petroleum distillates and now utilizes an alternative raw material that acts like petroleum distillates but is as safe as water for the environment. As a result, we are able to create a line of products that are effective but safer for the environment and reduce our dependance on oil.
Phosphate-Free
einszett is Germany's number one manufacturer of cleaning detergents and shampoos and supplies the majority of automotive related industries. Much of that success has been due to einszett's ability to develop the most efficient cleaners that offer maximum results with minimum impact on the environment. All einszett cleaners are free of phosphates that are known water pollutants and are highly biodegradable and low foaming.
Minimal Use of Caustic Cleaners
Using caustic cleaners to clean surfaces is a certain way of achieving results very quickly with very little cost. While the cost might be lower initially, there is a price to pay when it comes to the effects it has on the environment and, more importantly, on the health of the person using the product. Caustic acids are known for easily stripping dirt and grime from automotive surfaces but they pollute the water and are dangerous to inhale. einszett minimizes the use of such chemicals for specific professional applications only and avoids using in consumer goods believing it's possible to achieve maximum results with minimim impact on both health and the environment.
Methanol-Free
In formulating our winter line of anti-frost and de-icing washer fluids and sprays, einszett, unlike many off-the-shelf brands, does not utilize methanol which is toxic.
